43D8000 43” 109 Screen LED TV, 2022 The artist makes the events happening on the television visible by separating the television into its layers so that the moving images on local television channels, which contain many different information, can be displayed. In the ordinary sense, what a person expects from watching the images on the television is that the auditory and visual indicators he sees inform him about the events these indicators are about, or rather, provide us with information about them. Unless he is doing science, philosophy or art, very few people enjoy the interruption of the broadcast, the interference of the image or seeing the traces left on the panel of the television by old images while watching the television. However, from the perspective of the viewer, such situations, which are classified as “disorders” or “errors” because they disrupt the one-way flow of information while watching television, are symptomatic indicators that point to the physical structure of the television. And this situation provides us with very important information about the nature of media such as television. The moving image we see while watching television is actually a set of links before the viewer in the causal chain of events between capacitors, condensers, lamps emitting light in various colors, cables, satellites, broadcasts, circuits and many other parts. In his work, Şahsenem Altıparmak also separates the television into its layers and shows the “observer” how the links before the observer in this chain of events, which are causally connected to each other, are connected to each other. *Excerpt from the exhibition text.
